09 december good golly melbourne city has hit 37 degrees C today... and when you are outside in full sunlight that is pretty hot... at the moment (6:30pm) it is 35... i have been assured that this is unseasonal heat for this time of the year but im not so sure... it has been 30+ a number of times since i arrived so, over the past few days i have quickly learnt that the only way to get around feeling horrible and sweaty in this kind of weather is to make sure that none of your body parts are in direct contact with each other... or anything else for that matter... you can see the predicament im in... 05 december ok i just found the university book shop and spent a whole hour leafing through the -return of the king- companion books... and, well, imho this movie is gonna kick arse (-its been said before but it bears repeating, yeah-) you better have those tickets scott!!! cant wait for the three movie marathon 02 december gutted totally gutted yesterday i missed the huge event that was the -return of the king- world premiere in wellington. anyone who knows about my obsessions with the world of middle earth and a certain actor from the movies will know how gutted i am... i guess i cant complain too much... i am on a fully funded 'holiday' in melbourne im still gutted tho did i mention how gutted i am??? 28 november the melbourne university student union building has a -donut king-... mmm donuts... 19 november i am a year older now... the big two six. and im not scared to say it... well maybe a little. thanks out to everyone who helped to make my birthday weekend as damaging to my body as it was... and lets speak no more of it... anyway... im off to melbourne for a few weeks on saturday so catch you on the other side! 30 october -would ya like some red-rope liquorice- i have a sweet tooth... its true... i cant deny it... for a long time my weapon of choice in this unrelenting battle was red liquorice. however, after plowing through a 1kg box of red liquorice straps that i was given for my birthday a couple of years ago my propensity for that particular confectionery was satiated and i was driven to other, harder, sugar-based foodstuffs. yesterday i made a discovery that is set to restore red chewy goodness to its former place of pride in the stash... reforming and reshaping my addiction... -darrell lea strawberry liquorice- any self respecting sweet-head must try this... at almost 5 bucks a baggie you know your getting the good stuff... 29 october im back... well kinda... after much overtime in the lab im on the the verge of being ready to leave for melbourne to do some research at the university of melbourne... of course there is still plenty to do before i go, which unfortunately gives ample opportunity for it all to go to shit between now and then... but hey, thats the risk you take with these things... decided that n-other-home needed a facelift... or at least a colour scheme change... the weird green was getting really old and i think this looks much cleaner... aannnnnddd - big ups to the boys at haloscan for my wonderful new commenting... i think youll all agree that its far superior to my previous efforts... and much easier to use... ;) the old comments page is still there cos im sentimental... 26 august x will mark the place... sorry for the extended absence of updates... sometimes the silence is the content... i finally received my primers from the states a couple of weeks ago... and they were only 7 weeks late... so the last wee while has been pretty full on with work. but thats ok... keeps me out of trouble... had scott and odette in town over the weekend which was well enough to distract me from keeping out of trouble... if that makes any sense. 08 august gone to ground... check out the astronomy picture of the day... just disregard the unnecessarily ugly layout and enjoy the incredibly beautiful pictures. |
